Mage Slayer then gives me advantage on saves against spells within 5 ft of the caster, combined with being able to Dash 80-100 ft I should always be within 5 of a spellcaster if I play my cards right. With Mobility and Longstrider I never need to Disengage and can instead Dash for 100 ft so long as I struck that round. Even if I don't have advantage I still have Hunter's Mark up for additional damage, or a defensive spell like Blur from Arcane Trickster that forces all attacks made at me to have disadvantage. My high Athletics both protects me from grapples, and allows me to shove an enemy prone to gain advantage for my remaining 2 two weapon fighting attacks. I am playing him as a bit of a shamanistic demonhunter who uses his cunning and shocking strength to overpower his foes.

I am currently trying to give a high STR Goliath melee Ranger (Hunter)/ Rogue (Arcane Trickster) a shot. I can't currently play him because I am DMing for my group but I'm extremely excited to try him out. On top of uncanny dodge, I think it would be surpringly durable and able to dish out a lot of damage! At 7th level he can also learn invisibility, which would allow him to get into an advantageous position to get the jump on his foes.Īs a secondary feat I want to take Defensive Duelist, adding my proficiency modifier to my AC on a melee hit. At 7th level when he gains access to second level spells he can learn blur, which is a concentration spell giving melee attacks disadvantage on him, further allowing him to gain superiority on the battle field. He can only take a few spells that are not illusion or enchantment, I haven't figured out which but I like thunderwave so far.
#ZOMBIE HUNTER SWORD AND SHIELD DND FOR FREE#
He would function as a sort of battle mage, his cantrips being minor illusion and truestrike to cause distractions on the battlefield to gain advantage for free stealth attacks. (As far as I know, shields have no penalty to stealth, and short swords are finesse weapons that can sneak attack just fine). They specialize into Arcane trickster, and at 4th level he would take War Caster, and he would wield a short sword and shield. I just had this idea for a jack-of-all-trades Battle Mage Rogue, who doesn't need multiclassing.
